Abdallah Kamel ,an architect investigating architectural practice through research and design.
Abdallah Kamel is an architect and designer working at the intersection of research, education, and socially engaged architectural practice. He began his architectural education at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, earning his Bachelor’s degree before gaining professional experience across international offices, including Aedas in Dubai, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in New York, and OBMI in Dubai.
His work focuses on architecture within under-resourced and historically layered contexts, with a particular interest in community-centered educational environments, participatory design processes, and the relationship between architecture, urban fabric, and social agency in the Global South. Abdallah approaches design as a research-driven practice, integrating data analysis, community engagement, and prototyping to translate socio-cultural dynamics into spatial strategies.
He later relocated to New Haven to pursue his Master of Architecture (M.Arch II) at Yale University, where he is a Yale Scholar and recipient of the Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship. At Yale, his work engages broader investigations into architecture as a research medium, exploring how design operates across scales, contexts, and disciplinary boundaries.
