The Entity is a proof-of-concept project developed at the Yale School of Architecture’s Center for Collaborative Arts and Media (CCAM). The project explores the implementation of motion tracking as a learning process to understand the potential of movable elements in architecture.
Using Arduino, servo motors, and Processing, the project combines physical motion, computational design, and user interaction to create a responsive architectural prototype. The “entity” itself can take many forms, shaped by imagination, while its moving elements can also be designed in endless ways.
Through this project, a stronger awareness emerged around how movable architectural components should be designed for assembly and performance, not only for aesthetic expression.
