After reading the architecture of happiness by Alain de Botton, I was mesmerized by how he transformed architecture as a physical medium and translated its elements to an emotional realm that reveals a vital sensation for each subtle intricacy. Alain deconstructed the physical existence of architecture into a delicate finer points, expressing how the texture, light, scale, colors, sound, smell and among others, would definitely touch the user with a specific sentiment.
The book inspired me to note down my innermost perception of different situations and to sketch how this feeling would be represented if it is physical. Throughout a period of time, I was in this habit to sketch and note my emotions. Simply the enterprise was to reverse the process of the architectural impact on the humans’ sensations, instead of reaching to the product and then experiment how it would affect the user, I decided to antithesis the sequence of the process., the initial step involves introspection to discern the very essence of my emotions.
Once the depths of these feelings are uncovered for me, the next step is envisioning their transformation into a spatial realm, where they can take shape and assume tangible forms. For each feeling there are two slides, The 1st one has a quote from the book that is touching the implemented feeling, and the 2nd slide has the feeling psychological definition for this feeling.
